Teacher in Charge: A. Bowis.
Recommended Prior LearningThere are no prerequisites for this course but study of this subject at Year 10, 11 and 12 is an advantage.
This scheme is based on a variety of Achievement Standards. Students are able to select the Standards they wish to complete. This enables students to choose the Standards that best suit their needs. At least 3 units of work should be completed during the year.
Students new to this subject may also choose to complete Achievement or Units standards from the Level 1 and Level 2 courses.
If a student achieves 14 Level 3 Achievement Standard Credits in this course it will be counted as an approved subject for University Entrance.
This course has a practical component which requires students to design 3 of their own items/garments. To realise their designs, students may choose to purcahse their own fabric, pattern, notions etc, or they may use items supplied by the school. There will be a take home cost to cover some of the materials supplied by the school.
For NCEA Levels 1, 2 & 3 courses will be made up of a selection of the stated standards. This will happen at the beginning of the year with the assigned teacher.
