NCEA Level 3 Materials Technology: Fabrics
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: A. Bowis.
This scheme is based on a variety of Achievement Standards. Students are able to select the Standards they wish to complete. This enables students to choose the Standards that best suit their needs. At least 3 units of work should be completed during the year.
Students new to this subject may also choose to complete Achievement or Units standards from the Level 1 and Level 2 courses.
If a student achieves 14 Level 3 Achievement Standard Credits in this course it will be counted as an approved subject for University Entrance.
Recommended Prior Learning
There are no prerequisites for this course but study of this subject at Year 10, 11 and 12 is an advantage.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
This course has a practical component which requires students to design 3 of their own items/garments. To realise their designs, students may choose to purcahse their own fabric, pattern, notions etc, or they may use items supplied by the school. There will be a take home cost to cover some of the materials supplied by the school.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
