Year 10 Agriculture

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: A. Bruce.

Course Aims:

This course has a heavy emphasis on practical work and is an introduction to Agriculture and Horticulture for Level 1.


Course outline:

  • Topics studied include: farming systems, animal husbandry, plant propagation and soil management.
  • The students will be expected to work outside, design and plant a garden, grow a range of plants, investigate the care of animals and a range of farm systems and manage the soil.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

- 1B5 exercise book or refill paper/ring binder/subject dividers
- scientific calculator

Voluntary course contribution: $15 for seeds, pots, potting mix and other materials supplied to students

Disclaimer

For NCEA Levels 1, 2 & 3 courses will be made up of a selection of the stated standards. This will happen at the beginning of the year with the assigned teacher.
