NCEA Level 1 Foundation Studies

Level 1 Foundation Studies gives students the opportunity to develop skills that will be necessary to live and work in the world today. Students in this class will also be in Foundation English and Maths giving them the opportunity to develop their numeracy and literacy. All students in this class are expected to achieve level 1. Owing to the number of standards completed in this course students are able to take Foundation Studies across two columns.
- Preparing for work (careers, CV, interviewing);
- Employee rights (care and timeliness, health and safety, Employment Law);
- Work experience and industry training (work experience, personal presentation); and
- Real life (team work).
This subject does not lead to a University Entrance approved subject.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
A contribution or cost towards relevant trips and activities may be required depending on topics studied.
Recommended Prior Learning
Entrance to this course is done in consultation with the Senior School Pastoral Team through an interview process, please ensure you have had an interview before selecting this course.
Must be enrolled in 11ENF and 11MAF.
Total Credits Available: 18 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 18 credits.
For NCEA Levels 1, 2 & 3 courses will be made up of a selection of the stated standards. This will happen at the beginning of the year with the assigned teacher.
