Course Description

This course is designed to support students for whom English is an additional language.  They will continue to develop the reading, writing, information literacy and verbal skills necessary to function effectively in school and as participating members of the community  and/or in the pursuit of study. Students complete the learning required for literacy as well as a variety of Achievement Standards which are internally and externally assessed. This is a flexible programme which caters for individual needs and strengths. 

The goals for this course are for students to gain literacy and gain at least 10 credits towards achieving Level 1 NCEA.

Recommended Prior Learning

This is for bi-lingual students (those who speak two languages).

This is an intensive English course.  Students set goals and develop their own learning plan in consultation with the teacher.  The aim of this course is for ākonga to gain literacy.
