Recommended Prior Learning

There is a process of selection of students for this course based on prior achievements and teachers’ recommendations. All students in this course will also be entered in Foundations and English Foundations.


This course is part of the NZ Certification in Foundation Skills Level 1.

The course concentrates on developing numeracy skills through US 33427, this is worth 5 credits.  

This will lead to students attempting the co-requisite US 32406 for numeracy any time in Year 11 and Year 12. The  co-requisite  is a ninety minute online assessment done twice a year - June and November. It is worth 10 Numeracy credits. Students will be entered to sit this assessment if they have proved through the mini-assessments and teacher observations of various sub-topics that make up the syllabus for Numeracy co-requisite that they are ready to take it. The topics covered for this course are mainly from the Number, Measurement, Statistics and Geometry strands.

Some students may be offered other Level 1 standards if appropriate.
