NCEA Level 3 Mathematics with Statistics
Course Description

This is an academic mathematics course focusing on statistics and probability.
Content/Skills:
- Probability;
- Probability distributions;
- Statistical reports;
- Time series;
- Bivariate data; and
- Statistical inference.
This course is a University Entrance approved subject.
Field trips:
Level 3 Mathematics with Statistics and Level 3 Biology students can attend an optional 3 day trip to the NZ Marine Studies Centre in Dunedin. This will provide an excellent opportunity for students to run a series of experiments and evaluate the statistical significance of their results.
Recommended Prior Learning
At least 14 credits from Level 2 Mathematics Achievement Standards including AS91267 (Probability) or two from AS91263 (Questionnaire), AS91256 (Experiments) and AS91268 (Simulations).
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Field trip - approximate cost of $310.
Graphics calculator is required.
Having a device would be an advantage.
