Course Description

WHAT THE COURSE WILL COVER:

The role that Agriculture and Horticulture has to play in feeding the world in the future.

Topics studied will include:

  • How these industries need to preserve the environment as well as increasing production.
  • The importance and vulnerability of bees to food production.
  • Plant growth and processes.
  • Job opportunities in the industry.

 

METHODS OF LEARNING:

Knowledge, skills and interests are developed by project work, posters, studying resources and worksheets.

 

WHERE DOES THE SUBJECT LEAD?

Year 10 Agriculture (which is an introduction to Agriculture and Horticulture)

Senior subjects of Agriculture and Horticulture to Year 13 and Primary Industry Academy Years 11 and 12.

For NCEA Levels 1, 2 & 3 courses will be made up of a selection of the stated standards. This will happen at the beginning of the year with the assigned teacher.
