Course Description
Teacher in Charge: J. List.
Content/Skills:
- Animals and animal handling skills or plants and horticulture skills;
- Farm safety;
- Crop production; and
- One day per week work experience in an agricultural sector of the student's choice.
There may also be the opportunity for some students to do a two-day tractor and three-day chainsaw course which is worth an extra Credits.
This course does not lead to a University Entrance approved subject.
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 11 Agriculture Horticulture Academy and through interview with Primary Industry Training Organisation staff member and Agriculture Department staff.
This subject takes up 2 columns on the timetable (counts for 2 subjects) and is designed for those students who wish to work in the Agricultural (or other primary industry) sector on leaving school. Students can choose to do an Agricultural or Horticultural option.
