NCEA Level 1 Commerce
Course Description

In Level 1 Commerce students will use and explore accounting, economic and business concepts and models to make sense of society and solve problems.
They will build the knowledge, skills and values they need to navigate, and participate in, the economic world. They will learn how participants in the economy make decisions and the impact of these decisions on sustainability.
Content/Skills:
- Consumer perspectives, values and choices
- Organisations pūtake and goals
- Decision making - financial and non-financial
- Analysing the impact of decisions on the environment and various stakeholders
- Profit and price determination
- Inter-dependence of the sectors of the economy
This subject leads to approved UE subjects - Accounting, Business Studies and Economics.
There will be a field trip to a local business or organisation.
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 10 Money Management is an advantage but not essential.
