Course Description

Content/Skills:
- Understanding of diversity, structure, function and interrelationships of living organisms, and their interactions with the abiotic environment;
- Understanding of genetics, evolution and human evolution;
- Understanding of interactions between humans and their environment, and how these are influenced by developments in biological knowledge and technology; and
- Scientific investigative skills and attitudes.
This course is a University Entrance approved subject.
Field trips: An optional 3 day trip to NZ Marine Studies Centre in Dunedin. This trip is a 4 credit extension to the school based Biology course and provides an outstanding opportunity for students to extend their research and practical skills in a tertiary setting.
A course of 18-22 credits will be selected form the standards listed below.
Recommended Prior Learning
At least 14 Credits from Level 2 Biology or consultation with Head of Science Faculty. Students not gaining Merit grades or better in Level 2 are likely to struggle with the Level 3 course.

For students participating in the field trip - approximately $310, to be advised at the time.
