Course Description

Content/Skills:
- Understanding of diversity, structure, function and interrelationships of living organisms, and their interactions with the abiotic environment;
- Understanding of genetics, evolution and human evolution;
- Understanding of interactions between humans and their environment, and how these are influenced by developments in biological knowledge and technology; and
- Scientific investigative skills and attitudes.
This course is a University Entrance approved subject.
Field trips: An optional 3 day trip to NZ Marine Studies Centre in Dunedin. This trip is an extension to the 19 credit Biology course and provides an outstanding opportunity for students to extend their research skills.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
For students participating in the field trip - approximately $310, to be advised at the time.
Voluntary course contribution: Student workbook $31 approximately.
