Course Description

This course will include practical Unit Standards, eLearning course work and assessments provided by MITO (as this is a MITO (Level 2) Accelerate programme that is Unit Standard based). The practical assessment is completed in the workshop or a workplace. Upon completion the student will gain the StartUp Accelerate - Automotive Engineering Micro-Credential (Level 3, 21 credits).
This course is for aspiring automotive technicians (car mechanics), heavy automotive technicians (truck mechanics), motorcycle technicians, collision repair technicians (panel beaters) and automotive refinishers (car painters). There is the possibility to incorporate driver training through the Ashburton Car Club.
It is advised that students wishing to take this subject also select Gateway to gain practical work experience and potential employment opportunity’s.
Places are limited to 16 or with consultation with Head of Department.
Recommended Prior Learning
It is advised that students wishing to take this subject would have already completed the Level 2 StartUp Ignition - Automotive Micro-Credential.
