Course Description

In the NCEA Level 2 Creative Design course, students will produce a design package based on stakeholder requirements. This process involves the generation, development, clarification, and regeneration of ideas within the art-making process. Through this course, students will develop a deeper understanding of the creative process and refine their skills in producing visually compelling and conceptually rich works.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Generation of Ideas: Develop innovative and original ideas to create a series of promotionally orientated artworks.
- Development and Clarification: Refine and clarify ideas through critical selection and evaluation.
- Application of Conventions: Understand and apply design conventions relevant to the field of design.
- Critical Selection: Form a cohesive body of work through the critical selection of individual pieces.
- Artistic Skills: Enhance technical skills and conceptual thinking within the art-making process.
Course Outcome:
By the course's conclusion, students will have developed a refined design brief and portfolio that reflects their growth as designers.
Recommended Prior Learning
Level 1 Art Portfolio or Level 1 Art Practical achieved standards or approval by Head of Department.
