NCEA Level 1 Materials Technology: Product Design - Wood

This course follows on from Year 10 and leads to Product Design courses in Years 12 and 13. This is an Achievement Standard course. Students will follow a design process to solve an identified issue and present and justify their solution. Students will make products using traditional hand tools and CAM (computer aided manufacture) working predominantly with Wood.
The Standards covered in this course are the same, or similar to, those covered in the Metal course. You cannot do both.
Students will complete a maximum of 21 credits and the course will be designed to suit the needs and interests of the individual students.
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 10 Materials Technology or by consultation with HOD.
11MTW and 11MTM are similar courses that cover many of the same standards, it is not possible to do both.
This course or 11MTM needs to be taken if you intend continuing with this subject at Level 2 (Year 12).
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Families/whānau can be charged for the cost of materials when they have agreed that item can be taken home. This cost will be advised at the start of the course.
Total Credits Available: 26 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 26 credits.
Further assessment opportunities will not be offered for this standard inline with NZQA guidelines
