Course Description
Teacher in Charge: T. Kitchen.
COURSE AIMS:
- To prepare students for NCEA and to give them an insight into the German culture. Students will also begin planning their possible exchange options.
- Fit in Deutsch A1 exam.
COURSE OUTLINE:
- The course covers all four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Topics covered include: introductions, my class, pets, the school day, hobbies, family and shopping. All of these are taught within the framework of cultural studies.
- Contemporary German Music and Film are also used during the course.
SPECIAL NOTES:
It is advised to complete this course in preparation for NCEA Level 1.
The College, as a PASCH school, offers many exchange options available to German students only. We have established exchange programmes with our sister schools, and it is hoped that many students will have a Germany experience during their study of the language. The 10th Ashburton College German tour will be in 2024.
